Ecommerce development for Hardware

Thousands of SKUs, technical specs, contractor pricing and freight. We build hardware and industrial supply stores where buyers find the exact part and reorder it in seconds.

  • Hardware ecommerce on Shopify and Magento
  • B2B and retail pricing together
  • Senior engineers, from $90/hr
Hardware ecommerce

Nobody browses a hardware catalog. They hunt for one part.

A contractor does not want inspiration. They want a 3/8 inch stainless hex bolt, 2 inches long, and they want it in the cart before the truck leaves the lot.

That makes search, filtering and pricing the whole product. If those are weak, the rest of the site barely matters.

What a hardware store has to get right

  • Search that understands specs, sizes and part numbers
  • Filters that match how buyers describe a part
  • Trade pricing that shows up the moment they log in
  • Reordering that takes seconds, not a rebuilt cart
What this looks like for you

The problems we hear from hardware sellers

Buyers cannot find the part

Search matches product names, but buyers type dimensions, thread sizes and manufacturer numbers. No match, no sale.

Filters that do not fit the data

Specs live in free text or inconsistent fields, so a clean size or material filter is impossible until the data is fixed.

Retail and trade fight each other

One price list for everyone loses contractors. Separate sites double the work. You need both on one store.

Quotes and big orders go by email

Large and custom orders still arrive as spreadsheets and phone calls, then get retyped by hand.

Freight breaks checkout

Pallets, long items and hazmat do not ship like a parcel. Flat rates either lose money or scare buyers off.

Supplier data is always stale

Distributor feeds change prices and stock daily. Without sync, you sell what you cannot ship.

What we build

The features that turn a catalog into a store

Faceted search built on your specs

We structure size, material, rating and other attributes so buyers can narrow thousands of SKUs to a handful, fast, and so search finds part numbers and exact specs.

Tiered trade and wholesale pricing

Separate rates for contractors, resellers and retail, shown after login.

Quote request flow

Buyers request pricing on custom or large orders and get an answer in the system.

Bulk order by CSV or SKU list

Paste or upload a long list and fill the cart in one step.

Saved order templates

Reorder the same parts list for every job with one click.

Spec sheets on the product page

Datasheets and technical PDFs sit next to the Buy button, not in a separate download hunt.

Keeping data current

From supplier feed to a buyer's cart

Hardware stores live and die on data. Prices, stock and specs come from outside, so the pipeline matters as much as the storefront.

Most search problems are data problems. We fix the attributes and the sync first, then tune search on top of clean data.

Frequently asked questions

Can you handle a catalog with tens of thousands of SKUs?

Yes, but the real work is the data, not the storefront. We structure specs as proper attributes, set up search and filters on top of them, and automate imports so the catalog stays accurate. The platform that fits depends on catalog size, which we assess with you.

Can retail and trade customers share one store?

Yes. Trade and wholesale accounts can see their own pricing after login while retail shoppers see standard prices. Which tool does this depends on the platform, but one store with both audiences is normal.

How do you deal with freight and oversized items?

We set shipping rules by item and class, so parcels, pallets and long goods are handled differently. For true freight we connect carrier rates or quote shipping on request, rather than forcing a flat rate that loses money.

Can the store sync with our ERP or distributor feeds?

Yes. We build integrations that bring in prices, stock and product data and send orders back. Frequency and direction depend on your systems, and we check the feed format before we quote.

Should I choose Shopify or Magento?

Shopify is often enough for clean catalogs and simpler B2B. Magento fits when specs, customer groups, approvals and ERP depth are central. We give a straight recommendation after seeing your data.

What does a hardware ecommerce project cost?

We work hourly, from $90/hr depending on the plan, and the total depends on catalog size and integrations. See our pricing page for the options.
