Magento 1 to Magento 2, without losing what you've built

Your store has run without official security patches since June 2020. We move your catalog, customers, orders and search rankings to Magento 2 as one planned project, not a leap of faith.

The hard truth

Every day on Magento 1 is a day without official security patches

Adobe ended Magento 1 support in June 2020. There have been no official security updates since, and the extensions, PHP version and hosting your store depends on are aging with it.

Staying put is not free. It just moves the cost to the day something breaks.

  1. 1

    Security exposure keeps growing

Known vulnerabilities in unpatched software are public, and attackers scan for exactly these stores.

  2. 2

    Card data is at stake

If you take payments, PCI compliance expects supported, patched software. An unpatched store puts that at risk.

  3. 3

    Your stack is aging out

Modern PHP, search and caching tools stopped targeting Magento 1. Hosts and extension vendors are moving on too.

  4. 4

    Fixes get harder every year

The longer you wait, the more custom code and data you carry across, and the fewer people remember how it works.

How a migration moves

Your store, moved in five deliberate steps

Magento 1

Your live store

Audit

What you really have

Map and rebuild

Themes, modules, URLs

Test migrations

Rehearsed, then repeated

Magento 2

Cutover and watch

Your Magento 1 store keeps running while we build. The cutover plan is designed to minimize downtime, and nothing goes live until it has been tested against real data.

What moves, what changes

Not everything migrates the same way

The first thing we do is sort your store into three piles, so there are no surprises in the quote or on launch day.

Moves with your data

  • Products, categories and attributes
  • Customer accounts and addresses
  • Order history
  • CMS pages and blocks
  • Reviews and ratings

Rebuilt for Magento 2

  • Your theme and design
  • Custom modules and extensions
  • Third-party extensions (replaced or rebuilt)
  • Checkout customizations
  • ERP, 3PL and CRM connections

Protected for SEO

  • Old-to-new URL mapping
  • 301 redirects for every changed address
  • Meta titles and descriptions
  • Sitemap and robots rules
  • Structured data and canonical tags
Where migrations go wrong

The five ways these projects fail, and how we head each one off

Unmapped URLs quietly kill rankings

We build the full redirect map before launch and test it, so pages that rank today still resolve tomorrow.

Extensions with no Magento 2 version

We audit every extension up front and decide: replace, rebuild or drop.

Custom code that cannot simply be moved

Magento 1 code does not run on Magento 2. We rewrite it to current standards.

Data that looks fine until launch day

We run test migrations repeatedly and compare counts, totals and edge cases before the real one.

Surprise downtime

A staged cutover plan keeps the switch short and rehearsed.

How we run it

Three rules on every migration

01

Audit before we quote

We look at your code, extensions and data first, so the estimate reflects your store, not an average one.

02

Rehearse the move

Test migrations come before the real one. Problems get found on a copy, not on your customers.

03

SEO is in scope, not an add-on

Redirects, metadata and sitemaps are part of the project plan from day one.

Frequently asked questions

Is it still safe to run Magento 1?

Official support and security patches ended in June 2020. Stores can be patched manually, but the platform and much of its ecosystem are no longer maintained, so risk rises over time. If you take card payments, that matters for PCI compliance too.

How long does a Magento 1 to Magento 2 migration take?

It depends on how many extensions you run, how much custom code you have, and how much data there is. We will give you a concrete estimate after auditing your store, rather than a guess up front.

Will I lose my search rankings?

Not if the redirects and metadata are handled properly, which is why we treat SEO as part of the project scope. We map old URLs to new ones, set 301 redirects, and carry over titles, descriptions and structured data.

Will my existing extensions work on Magento 2?

Magento 1 extensions do not run on Magento 2. For each one we check whether a Magento 2 version exists, then replace it, rebuild it, or drop it if you no longer need it.

Can my store keep selling during the migration?

Yes. We build and test the new store separately while your current one stays live, then plan a short, rehearsed cutover.

What does it cost?

We work hourly, from $90/hr depending on the plan you choose. The total depends on the size and complexity of your store, which we scope after an audit. See our pricing page for the options.

Should I move to Magento 2, or to Shopify or BigCommerce?

It depends on your store. Heavy customization, complex B2B rules or deep integrations often justify Magento 2. If your needs are more standard, Shopify or BigCommerce can mean less ongoing maintenance. We will give you an honest recommendation either way.
